Lastly, the Free Ride mode is honestly a joke with little to no incentive to engage with it. The appalling driving controls are too unresponsive and frigid to even be considered a challenge as it takes way too many attempts and time to even finish the race let alone in the winning position and quickly wears out and traps the player in a monotonous loop of weariness. The infamous Race sequence is god awful and horribly hamfisted and implemented. Voice acting is also awful but not in a so bad it's good, just quite the opposite. The plot is a generic run-of-the-mill from any mafia/gangster movie that features the predicable 'start from nothing, work for a family, become a key figure, there's a rat that betrays the family.' yada yada yada that's very non-engaging however it does include an interesting sublot of loyalty. Lifeless, one dimensional characters and terrible AI are very prominent throughout the game.
